We know the out-of-state cost to attend MSU is high and we are investing heavily to increase affordability and accessibility for non-resident students. Numerous scholarships are awarded to incoming domestic out-of-state first-year students for tuition purposes, pending available funding, and are contingent upon students maintaining out-of-state residency status. In most instances, no additional applications are required.
The MSU Non-Resident Scholarship designates award levels for out-of-state students based on SAT/ACT scores and high school GPA at the end of junior year. All out-of-state students who apply to MSU as a freshman are automatically considered. Students living in Ohio or Pennsylvania are not eligible for this award. Applicants must have at least a 3.4 GPA. The number of awards will vary, and students must be admitted by February 1 to be considered.
