Are you interested in a career in hydropower? The Midwest Hydro Users Group (MHUG) scholarship can help you achieve your goals. High school seniors and those enrolled within their first 2 years of a 2-year, or 4-year college, university, or technical school are eligible to apply for our scholarship.
Scholarship Details
- Open to high school seniors and students in their first two years of a 2-year or 4-year college, university, technical school, trade, or apprenticeship program
- Supports programs and fields of study that contribute to the hydropower industry
- Students must attend or be accepted at a Midwestern institution in one of the selected states
- Scholarship funds may be used toward tuition and related educational expenses as allowed by MHUG
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a high school senior or within the first two years of a 2-year or 4-year college, university, technical school, trade, or apprenticeship program
- Must be accepted or currently enrolled at a qualifying Midwestern institution in one of the following states:
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Iowa
- Kansas
- Kentucky
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Missouri
- Nebraska
- North Dakota
- Ohio
- South Dakota
- Wisconsin
- Must be pursuing or planning to pursue a program of study that supports the hydropower industry (examples provided in the official application)
- Must be able to provide official academic transcripts from all high schools and colleges attended, as applicable
- Must provide at least one reference who can submit a personal recommendation and complete the required appraisal form
Application Process
- Complete the MHUG Scholarship application form in full
- Obtain official transcripts from all secondary and postsecondary institutions attended, ensuring they show your name, school name, grades, credit hours, and terms for each course
- Select an advisor, coach, teacher or professor, or work or volunteer supervisor to serve as your appraiser, and provide them with the appraisal form link
- Arrange for your appraiser to complete the appraisal form and personal recommendation; this individual must not be a family member
- All required materials must be received by February 28th
MHUG's mission is to promote safe, reliable, economical, and environmentally responsible hydropower in the Midwest by providing members with opportunities to learn, share information, and network with others in the industry. We're looking to help develop the next generation of talent to keep our Midwestern hydroelectric projects producing safe and reliable power.
