Scholarship Description

The Mildred C. Hanson, SIOR Memorial Fund provides educational scholarships to qualified female students pursuing studies in commercial real estate. Applicants for this opportunity are evaluated on a variety of criteria, including their achievements and their commitment towards planning a career in commercial real estate.

Scholarship Details

  • Two scholarships of $8,000 each are awarded
  • Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, room and board, textbooks, materials and other expenses related to obtaining a degree
  • Scholarship funds are awarded directly to the recipient's college or university on the student's behalf

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be female students
  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States or Canada
  • Applicants must be accepted or enrolled at an accredited college or university located in the United States or Canada
  • Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree related to commercial real estate
  • Undergraduate applicants must be rising juniors or seniors enrolled in a four-year program in Real Estate, Business or Finance
  • Graduate applicants must be enrolled in an accredited MRE or MRED program
  • Applicants must be rising juniors or above

Application Process

  1. Complete and sign the scholarship application form
  2. Prepare a signed statement describing your intellectual interests, activities, employment if applicable and the real estate career you expect to pursue. The statement must not exceed 1,000 words
  3. Obtain a signed statement of your proposed program of study from the Dean, Faculty Advisor or authorized college or university official. Include a brief description of courses taken or planned for the degree
  4. Request official copies of transcripts for all university course records, certified by the Registrar or another authorized official
  5. Obtain letters of recommendation from two people. One recommendation from a REALTOR® or SIOR is preferred but not required
  6. Mark all supporting materials and pages with your name
  7. Submit the completed application and required materials electronically. Letters of recommendation may be submitted separately
