The Military Commanders’ Scholarship Fund, established by the New York Chapter of the American Logistics Association (ALA), supports the children of active duty, reserve, National Guard, or retired U.S. military personnel. This competitive scholarship is open to students planning full-time undergraduate study at an accredited U.S. institution. Since its inception, the program has awarded over $740,000 to deserving students nationwide. Only the first 100 fully completed and eligible applications will be considered each year.
Scholarship Details
- Offered by the New York Chapter of the American Logistics Association (ALA)
- Supports children of U.S. military members with valid Exchange & Commissary privileges
- Open to students pursuing full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university
- Awards total an estimated $50,000 annually
- Two $5,000 scholarships awarded per military branch, if qualified applicants are available
- Scholarship is one-time only and not renewable
- Only the first 100 completed applications will be processed
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a dependent child of active duty, reserve, National Guard, or retired U.S. military personnel with valid Exchange & Commissary privileges
- Must be a high school senior or graduate who has not yet attended college
- Must plan to enroll full-time in undergraduate study for the upcoming academic year
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
Application Process
- Complete and submit the online application before the 100-application limit is reached
- Upload a current, complete transcript displaying your name, school name, grades, and credit hours
- If applicable, upload separate SAT/ACT score reports if not included on your transcript
- Upload a copy of your parent’s DD214, Statement of Service, or other proof of service
- Provide an online recommendation
- Submit a statement of your educational and career goals
