The Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association (MSA) announced today the commencement of the Law Enforcement Scholarship Program. The MSA Board of Directors has established a scholarship fund for the awarding of up to 18 $2,000 scholarships for this year. These scholarships are due to the coordinated efforts of the 87 Sheriffs of the State of Minnesota.
Scholarship Details
- Up to 18 scholarships are available
- Each scholarship is worth $2,000
- The program supports students preparing for careers in law enforcement
- Scholarships are provided through the Minnesota Sheriffs' Association
- Applications are due November 30th
- Recipients will be announced through the Minnesota Sheriffs' Association at the beginning of next year
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be currently enrolled in a mandated POST Skills Program, the second year of a two-year law enforcement program, or the third or fourth year of a four-year college criminal justice program
- Must submit transcripts from each school attended
- Must submit the completed application through the appropriate local Sheriff's Office
Application Process
- Obtain a scholarship application from your local Sheriff's Office or download the application from the Minnesota Sheriffs' Association.
- Complete all required sections of the scholarship application.
- Obtain transcripts from each school you have attended.
- Return the completed application and required transcripts to your local Sheriff's Office for signature and submission to the Minnesota Sheriffs' Association.
- Submit all required materials by November 30th.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office, along with the MSA, recognizes the value of pre-entry training for individuals pursuing careers in law enforcement and understands that students may need financial assistance to cover the cost of their education.
