The HESAA scholarship supports New Jersey-based clinical interns in approved Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) by providing financial assistance for living expenses during their full-time semester of clinical practice. This scholarship helps students in educator preparation programs complete their required practical training in New Jersey schools.
Scholarship Details

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a New Jersey resident for at least 12 consecutive months or meet P.L. 2018 c. 12 residency requirements (e.g., attended and graduated from a New Jersey high school)
- Enrolled in an approved EPP and pursuing a Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS)
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s, joint bachelor’s/master’s, post-baccalaureate, or stand-alone master’s program while completing an EPP
- Placed in a New Jersey public school or eligible private school for clinical practice (exceptions apply with an approved waiver)
- Must be in good academic standing as defined by the college or university
Application Process
- Verify enrollment in an approved EPP and eligibility for the CEAS at a New Jersey institution
- Confirm placement in a full-time clinical practice at a qualified New Jersey school
- Complete the HESAA scholarship application form available through the program’s website
- Submit proof of New Jersey residency or meet alternative residency requirements as specified
HESAA will award funding to clinical interns who remain enrolled in full-time clinical practice through a New Jersey CEAS EPP after your institution’s add/drop deadline. Clinical interns do not need to submit an application. If you are eligible, your field director at your EPP will submit your name on a roster to HESAA after your institution’s add/drop deadline for either the fall or spring term.
