Scholarship Description

If you’re a college sophomore, junior, or senior who will be pursuing a program of study related to the hydropower industry as an undergraduate or graduate student in the coming academic year, you may be eligible for the $2,500 National Hydropower Association (NHA) Past Chairs’ Legacy Scholarship.

Scholarship Details

  • $2,500 scholarship award for the coming academic year
  • Funded through contributions from NHA, the Hydropower Foundation, industry organizations, and individual donors
  • Awarded to one promising student pursuing a waterpower-related field of study
  • Application period opens January 2nd and closes February 12th

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Must be a current college sophomore or junior or a current graduate student
  • May also be enrolled in an accredited vocational or technical school or program
  • Must be enrolled full time in an accredited institution
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
  • Must be pursuing a program related to the waterpower industry such as engineering, biology, fisheries, hydrology, communications, or environmental studies

Application Process

  1. Confirm eligibility based on academic standing, field of study, and enrollment status
  2. Prepare required academic and personal information for submission
  3. Complete the online scholarship application through Scholarship America
  4. Submit the full application by February 12th

National Hydropower Association created the Past Chairs’ Legacy Scholarship in 2008 to encourage students to consider becoming part of the U.S. hydropower industry. Our growing industry has professionals in many different fields, including engineering, IT, biology, environmental sciences, forestry, hydrology, animal sciences, management, financial services, communications, and other areas. Many companies also offer high-paying skilled labor and technical positions.
