The Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans (JCCIA) is proud to offer – from the Nicholas and Helena Patti Foundation Scholarship Fund– scholarships that are awarded to persons of Italian parentage for assistance in music or education for college students who are orphans or who were raised in foster homes.
Scholarship Details
- Supports students who are orphans or were raised in foster homes
- Preference is given to music majors beyond the freshman year, but students in other fields of study are eligible
- Recipients are required to attend the JCCIA scholarship award presentation at the December JCCIA meeting and reception
Eligibility Criteria
- Be of Italian heritage
- Be a resident of the State of Illinois
- Be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education, having completed at least one year of college coursework
- Have a strong academic record
- Demonstrate musical talent if applying as a music major
- Show leadership ability and a commitment to serving the Italian-American community
- Selection is based on academic merit, talent, application quality, commitment to education, intended degree area and other relevant factors
Application Process
- Complete the JCCIA scholarship application
- Gather all required supporting documentation listed on the application
- Combine the completed application and all required documents into a single PDF file
- Submit the complete PDF electronically to JCCIA by the application deadline
- If selected, attend the December JCCIA meeting and reception to receive the scholarship award
Preference for scholarship awards may be given to students studying music in college beyond the freshman level. However, scholarships can be awarded for other fields of study. Preference for scholarship awards may also be given to those individuals who have been orphaned and wish to pursue their personal and professional goals of attending college. The scholarship is merit-based for students, taking into consideration the combination of academic achievement and talent.
