Scholarship Description

The Norristown Garden Club Scholarship supports college students pursuing full-time, horticulture-related programs and other fields connected to agriculture, plants, conservation, and environmental studies. Students who maintain high academic standards and demonstrate financial need may be eligible to reapply the following year.

Scholarship Details

  • Scholarship awards generally range from $2,000 to $10,000 per student
  • The scholarship is awarded annually to eligible college students enrolled in the upcoming fall semester
  • Scholarship funds are sent directly to the recipient’s college financial aid office to be applied toward tuition

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time, horticulture-related program
  • Applicants must be enrolled for the upcoming fall semester as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student
  • Eligible fields include agricultural education, agronomy, botany, environmental concerns, conservation, floriculture, horticulture, land management, landscape architecture, plant pathology and other related fields
  • Residents of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery or Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania are encouraged to apply
  • Non-residents may be considered if they attend a full-time, horticulture-related program at an academic institution located in one of the eligible Pennsylvania counties

Application Process

  1. Complete the official scholarship application
  2. Prepare a typed letter of no more than one page describing your personal background, special interests, personal commitment, financial need and future goals
  3. Obtain an official transcript of academic records that includes the latest grading period
  4. Obtain three letters of recommendation, including one scholastic or academic recommendation, one character recommendation and one financial or work-related recommendation
  5. Submit the completed application and all required supporting materials together to the Norristown Garden Club Scholarship Chairperson before the application deadline
  6. If selected, attend the Norristown Garden Club’s June meeting for the scholarship award presentation when possible

The Norristown Garden Club Scholarship provides substantial financial support for students preparing for careers involving horticulture, agriculture, plants, conservation, and related fields.
