The Balanced Man Program is the centerpiece of the SigEp chapter experience and provides the experience that today’s student needs to be successful during and after college. The Balanced Man Program is a non-pledging, non-hazing, four-year, personal, academic, leadership and professional skills development experience. The program is founded on five philosophical tenets and takes the form of four self-paced challenges that span throughout the college career.
The Balanced Man Scholarship (BMS) is awarded to incoming freshmen who embody the Fraternity’s values and ideals: Virtue, Diligence, Brotherly Love, Sound Mind, and Sound Body. The recipient of this award need not be a brother of SigEp; the opportunity is available to all incoming freshmen men who wish to apply. The Balanced Man Scholarship originated in 1990 at the Cincinnati Chapter, as a way to attract men of Sound Mind and Sound Body, while rewarding them for espousing the ideals of the Fraternity.
