The NPG Photography Scholarship Contest invites undergraduate students to use original photography to examine the effects of population growth in the United States. Applicants must photograph an area negatively affected by population growth and provide a brief explanation connecting the image to the nation's population challenges. Multiple scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 will be awarded based on originality, relevance, and critical thinking.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Must be an undergraduate college student enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program for the coming Spring semester
- Must attend an accredited school in the United States or a school operated overseas by the U.S. government
- Photograph and accompanying description must be the applicant's original work
- Artificial intelligence may not be used in preparing the entry
- Relatives of NPG employees or directors are not eligible
Application Process
- Take an original photograph of an area that has been negatively affected by population growth.
- Write a 20-word to 50-word description explaining what the photograph shows and how it relates to U.S. population challenges.
- Prepare the photograph as a high-resolution JPG file between 1MB and 2MB at 250 to 300 dpi.
- Name the photograph file using only your first and last name as specified in the official contest rules.
- Complete and digitally sign the online application, including a parent or guardian's digital signature if you are under age 18.
- Review and agree to the Photography Scholarship Contest Project Release Agreement governing NPG's ownership and use of submitted materials.
- Submit the entry through NPG's online application by 11:59 p.m. EST on October 26th.
The NPG Scholarship Committee will select multiple winning photographs. Photographs will be judged based on originality, relevance to topic, and evidence of critical thinking. All decisions are at the discretion of NPG Scholarship Judges, and all decisions are final. All scholarships will be paid directly to the accredited college or university of the winning student(s). No purchase or contribution is required for entry. Neither membership in nor contributions to NPG will enhance the chances of winning.
