Scholarship Description

Selected applicants for the Navy ROTC Scholarship Program are awarded scholarships through a highly competitive national selection process, and receive full tuition, books stipend, educational fees and other financial benefits OR Room and Board at many of the country's leading colleges and universities. Upon graduation, midshipmen are commissioned as officers in the unrestricted line Naval Reserve or Marine Corps Reserve. The Navy ROTC Scholarship Program is available to qualified students who graduate from high school before August 1 of the year they intend to start college.

In order to be eligible for a NROTC National Scholarship, you must be between the ages of 17 and 23, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and meet physical/medical requirements. Applicants may apply to one of three program options - Navy, Marine Corps, or Nurse. Students with 30 or more semester hours or students with 45 or more quarter hours of college credit upon submission are not eligible. Approximately 4,000 scholarships are awarded each year, distributed across various universities participating in the NROTC program. The scholarship covers full-tuition at parcitipating universities, as well as additional benefits such as a stipend for books ($750 per year) and a monthly subsistence allowance that ranges from $250 to $400 depending on the student's academic year. The NROTC National Scholarship application is typically open until January 31st for high school students planning to begin college in the following academic year (although it's recommended to apply early, as applications are reviewed on a rolling basis).
