U.S. high school filmmakers can sign up today to (for free!) enter their 5-15 page script to Kinolime’s inaugural NXT High School Screenplay Competition for a chance to win a $5,000 production grant to make their short as well as an additional $2,500 college scholarship.
Scholarship Details
- One winner receives a $5,000 film production grant
- One winner receives a $2,500 college scholarship
- Hands-on mentorship and support from Kinolime producers
- Two runner-ups receive a $1,000 production grant and a $500 college scholarship
- Seven semi-finalists receive a $250 grant for their school’s AV or arts program
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a student at an accredited high school in the United States
- Only one submission allowed per student filmmaker
- Maximum of ten submissions permitted per school
Application Process
- Register and submit a complete 5 to 15 page screenplay in PDF format through the competition website
- Obtain registered approval from a faculty member at your high school
- Submit a signed consent and release waiver if you are a minor
- Participate in audience voting to advance scripts to the top ten
- Advance to finalist selection by Kinolime’s development team if chosen
- Compete in final audience voting to determine the winning screenplay
Any use of AI or large language models must be disclosed. Scripts found to contain AI-generated material may be flagged for additional review and risk disqualification. Submissions open on February 2nd and close on February 8th.
