The Ohio Section AWWA Scholarship Program supports students pursuing education in water industry-related fields to advance the future of drinking water services and industry leadership. This program provides financial assistance to Ohio students committed to careers that benefit the water industry and encourages involvement in the American Water Works Association (AWWA).
Scholarship Details
- Administered by the Ohio Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA)
- 12 scholarships awarded for the Fall academic season
- Application deadline: February 13th
- Award notification expected in May
- Scholarship funds paid directly to the recipient’s school toward educational expenses
- Students may not receive more than two awards within a 10-year period
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a resident of Ohio
- Must attend an Ohio-accredited institution of higher learning during the scholarship year
- Must be enrolled in a water industry-related program (examples: science, engineering, management, computer information systems, or another water-related field)
- Current Committee members or their immediate families are not eligible
- State Governing Board members or their immediate families cannot vote on scholarship winners if related to an applicant
Application Process
- Prepare required documents before starting the application:
- Personal statement outlining career goals, contributions to the water industry, and support for AWWA (do not include personal identifiers)
- Letter of recommendation from an instructor, professor, or dean
- Current scholastic transcript
- Complete and submit the online application form by the deadline at 11:59 PM (EST)
- Ensure all documents are uploaded to finalize submission
- Await award notification in May
- If selected, provide a current invoice so the scholarship payment can be processed directly to your school
