The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship is a merit-based program recognizing the most academically talented high school seniors and encouraging these students to attend college in the state.
Scholarship Details
- Merit-based scholarship for high-achieving South Carolina high school seniors
- Provides up to $6,700 for the freshman year and up to $7,500 for each of the sophomore, junior, and senior years
- Funds must be applied toward the cost of attendance after other gift aid is deducted
- Renewable for up to eight full-time terms toward the first bachelor’s degree at eligible South Carolina four-year institutions
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a South Carolina resident and graduating high school senior
- Must meet academic criteria established by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education
- Must plan to attend an eligible four-year college or university in South Carolina
- For STEM enhancement eligibility, student must declare a major in an approved math or science program
- STEM enhancement recipients must complete at least 14 credit hours in qualifying math or science coursework by the end of the first academic year
Application Process
- Consult your high school guidance counselor to confirm eligibility and nomination requirements
- Submit the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship application through your school by the designated deadline
- Ensure all supporting documents, including transcripts and standardized test scores, are included
- Upon selection, enroll in an eligible South Carolina four-year institution
- Maintain required academic performance and full-time enrollment to renew the award each year
- For enhancement eligibility, declare an approved major and complete required credit hours in the first year
For STEM scholarship enhancement eligibility, Palmetto Fellows must declare a major in an approved math or science program and must also successfully complete at least 14 credit hours of instruction in mathematics or life and physical science or a combination of both by the end of the first academic year.
