Scholarship Description

The mission of the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) is to promote and enhance access to higher education by delivering quality student financial aid information and services to residents of the Commonwealth, and thus ensuring that they have an opportunity to enrich their lives and contribute to the economic development and social progress of the state. OSFA has a variety of merit- and need-based grant, scholarship, no-interest loan and tuition waiver programs available for your use at numerous schools.

The Paul Tsongas Scholarship is a merit-based program that rewards Massachusetts students with a minimum 3.75 GPA and highly competitive scores of at least 1200 on the SAT (or the ACT equivalent). Eligible students receive a waiver of tuition and mandatory fees at a Massachusetts state university. Permanent legal residents of Massachusetts - for at least one year prior to the opening of the academic year - are eligible to apply. Applicants must have applied for financial aid and not be in default of any federal or state student loans. The amounts will vary.
