Scholarship Description

The Peace & Prosperity Empowerment through Education Scholarship is a component of the Miami-Dade County Community Violence Intervention Initiative that supports college-bound young adults who are directly or indirectly impacted by gun violence achieve their higher education goals. Scholarship Details

  • 75 scholarships of $2,500 each
  • Administered by the Office of Neighborhood Safety, a division of Miami-Dade County
  • Supports students impacted by gun violence pursuing higher education
  • Funds are disbursed after all required documentation is submitted and verified

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a current high school senior graduating by August 1st
  • Resident of Miami-Dade County
  • Must be accepted and plan to enroll at an accredited college or university in the coming Fall
  • Must be directly or indirectly impacted by gun violence

Application Process

  1. Complete and submit the Peace & Prosperity Empowerment through Education Scholarship application
  2. Ensure the application is complete and submitted only once to avoid disqualification
  3. If selected, submit the following documents within 10 days of notification:
    • Proof of Miami-Dade County residency
    • Final high school transcript
    • Proof of college or university acceptance
    • Official Fall class schedule
  4. Ensure all documents are received and verified before scholarship funds are disbursed
  5. Notify the Office of Neighborhood Safety of any changes to your mailing address

If you are a graduating senior from Miami-Dade County who has experienced the effects of gun violence, this scholarship can help support your journey to higher education. Only one scholarship application will be accepted per applicant. Submitting multiple applications or an incomplete application may result in disqualification.
