The Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation’s (PHF’s) mission to help preserve the Commonwealth’s rich heritage includes supporting the next generation of scholars and encouraging their enthusiasm for Pennsylvania History.
Scholarship Details
- One $1,000 award for the top essay, one additional $1,000 award for the second-place essay and three $500 awards for runners-up
- Open to students studying History or a related field
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a current Pennsylvania resident
- Must be enrolled full-time at a Pennsylvania two- or four-year college or university in the coming fall
- Must be pursuing a course of study in History or an allied field
Application Process
- Complete and submit the official scholarship application.
- Provide proof of full-time enrollment or an acceptance letter if entering the first year of post-secondary education.
- Submit a 250-word personal statement outlining how your studies engage with the field of History.
- Write and submit a well-researched essay (maximum 1,500 words) with appropriate citations and sources.
- Ensure all materials are submitted electronically or postmarked by May 2nd at 11:59 PM.
Winners will be notified by email on or before June 30th. Awards will be announced in the PHF newsletter, on our website, and in the September issue of Pennsylvania Heritage Magazine.
