The Philadelphia Foundation is now using a Common Scholarship Application. Each scholarship applicant is required to complete ONE application in order to be considered for multiple scholarships. Students will be required to complete one or more essay questions based on their responses.
Scholarship Details
- Single Common Application allows consideration for multiple scholarships
- Over 200 scholarship funds managed by the Philadelphia Foundation
- Covers two- and four-year college programs, vocational or technical training
- Most scholarships are need-based
- Open to high school seniors, current undergraduates, and students continuing their education
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college, university, vocational, or technical program
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Most scholarships require residency in the Greater Philadelphia region:
- Pennsylvania: Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware counties
- New Jersey: Burlington and Camden counties
- Some scholarships (e.g., for HBCU students) are open to residents of any U.S. state
Application Process
- Visit the Philadelphia Foundation website to access the Common Scholarship Application
- Create an account and complete the general application form
- Answer one or more essay questions based on your eligibility and scholarship matches
- Provide a letter of recommendation (must be from a non-relative such as a teacher, counselor, employer, or community leader)
- Upload supporting documents such as your transcript and financial information (details provided in the application)
- Submit your completed application by the posted deadline
The Common Scholarship Application may be completed by graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate students. Most of our scholarships require that you be a resident of the Greater Philadelphia region (which includes Burlington and Camden counties in New Jersey and Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, Delaware, and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania). However, if you attend an HBCU, we have a scholarship for any U.S. resident of any state.
