Scholarship Description

The Native American Vocal Scholars Program at The Plimpton Foundation is a national scholarship designed to support Native American musicians entering college to study voice. The scholarship aims to amplify the next generation of Native vocal artists across classical, musical theatre, contemporary, traditional, and interdisciplinary vocal practices.

Scholarship Details

  • Two scholarships awarded, each worth $1,000
  • Includes access to mentorship and ongoing support from the foundation
  • No required service or performance obligations

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an incoming or current undergraduate student at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Must be majoring in or planning to major in vocal studies (classical, contemporary, traditional, or interdisciplinary)
  • Must be an enrolled member of a federally or state-recognized tribe, or a descendant of an enrolled member

Application Process

  • Complete the scholarship application between March 1st and May 1st.
  • Provide information about your academic plans and vocal focus.
  • Submit materials demonstrating your artistic ability and goals.
  • Include any required documentation verifying eligibility.
