The RIVMA Veterinary Student Scholarship is open to veterinary students in their junior year, to be applied to their senior year. Applicants must be a graduate of a Rhode Island high school or have earned an equivalent in RI and have a grade point average of at least 2.5. In March 1962, five Rhode Island veterinarians founded the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association (RIVMA) as a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the science and art of veterinary medicine, including its relationship to public health and agriculture. In addition, the RIVMA Companion Animal Foundation (CAF) provides financial assistance to low income pet owners for emergency or routine medical treatment of their companion animals. The RIVMA also offers members a variety of educational and networking opportunities each year and shares information via a weekly e-newsletter, email updates and social media posts.
