Scholarship Description

The U.S. Army awards scholarships to high school and college Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) participants. Award amounts and scholarship renewability vary; full-tuition coverage is available.

Scholarship Details

  • Merit-based with varying value
  • Funds for tuition, room and board, and books
  • Only available at participating schools
  • Recipients must serve in the Army post-graduation

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be at least 17 and under 31 in year of commissioning
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have an unweighted high school GPA of at least 2.50 if you’re in high school while applying
  • Have taken the SAT or ACT
  • Pass the Army Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA), then the Army Fitness Test (AFT) upon contract completion
  • Meet the physical weight and height requirements
  • Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard

Application Process

  1. Ensure you met or will meet all the eligibility criteria
  2. Create an account in the scholarship application portal
  3. Contact your school's ROTC Recruiting Operations Officer for further instruction
  4. Submit all materials in advance of their deadlines
  5. Follow all guidelines in order to maintain and renew the award

Students may exit the ROTC program without service obligation if they un-enroll upon completion of their freshman year of college.
