Scholarship Description

The Rondout Valley Growers Association (RVGA) awards one annual Board of Directors Scholarship to a college-bound high school senior based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and their plan to pursue an education related to agriculture and/or local food systems. The scholarship can be used to defray the cost of tuition, room and board, books, and other academic charges. Graduating seniors from all school districts within the Rondout Valley are welcome to apply.

Scholarship Details

  • One scholarship awarded annually to a college-bound graduating senior
  • Supports studies related to agriculture and food systems
  • Funds may be used for tuition, books, room and board, and other academic expenses

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a graduating high school senior or homeschool student in a Rondout Valley school district
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must pursue a major related to agriculture or food systems (examples include dairy science, animal science, veterinary science, agricultural technical programs, ag communications, cooking school, and similar fields)

Application Process

  1. Prepare academic records confirming a GPA of 3.0 or above
  2. Gather documentation of Fall enrollment at an accredited college or university
  3. Write any required responses explaining your interest in agriculture or local food systems
  4. Obtain at least one recommendation letter from a teacher or community member
  5. Complete the scholarship application when it opens
