Scholarship Description

The Sammie Lee Earles Lewis Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of an inspiring educator and community leader. This $2,000 scholarship supports African American high school seniors from Dallas County or surrounding areas who are committed to making a positive impact in their communities. The scholarship aims to assist students pursuing higher education at a Texas-accredited 4-year college or university.

Eligibility Criteria

  • U.S. citizen
  • African American high school senior from Dallas County or surrounding areas, or a Bridge Scholar
  • Admitted to a Texas-accredited 4-year institution
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrates financial need

Application Process

  1. Complete the online scholarship application
  2. Prepare an essay outlining your commitment to community service and leadership
  3. Submit your high school transcript
  4. Provide three letters of recommendation
  5. Participate in a virtual interview if selected as a finalist
  6. Submit all materials by June 6th
