Scholarship Description

You are eligible to apply for the SchoolHouse Connection Youth Scholarship if you: are currently residing in the United States (undocumented applicants are also eligible); were born on or after a specified birthdate; will begin college (four year, community college or trade school) for the first time (not including dual-enrollment courses); and experienced homelessness in the last six years. Besides the application, you must also submit: a high school transcript; 1-3 recommendation letters; and an essay (1,000 words maximum) that answers the following 3 topics- your experience of homelessness and how it relates to your life and education; your commitment to education during your experience of homelessness; and your desire to attend college.

Besides the monetary award, SchoolHouse Connection Scholars will also receive: one-on-one Support from SchoolHouse Connection Staff; three all-expenses paid trips (the awards ceremony celebration, a Washington, DC summit and a workforce success retreat); support from other SchoolHouse Connection Scholars; and opportunities to engage in state and federal policy advocacy.
