The SDEF Empower Scholarship Program provides renewable undergraduate scholarships to eligible students residing in Fort Bend County, Texas. Applicants are selected based on academic achievement, leadership potential, and community service involvement, along with financial need, where applicable.
Scholarship Details
- Ten scholarships are awarded annually
- Five Merit-Based scholarships and five Means-Based scholarships are available each year
- Supports undergraduate study only
- Scholarships are renewable for up to four years with a total scholarship value of up to $20,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a resident of Fort Bend County, Texas
- Must be a high school junior or senior planning to enroll in an undergraduate program
- Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application and throughout college
- Must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student
- Must demonstrate a commitment to community service
Application Process
- Determine eligibility for either the Merit-Based or Means-Based scholarship category
- Complete the scholarship application through the scholarship portal
- Upload a copy of your parents’ most recent federal tax return, including W-2 or 1099 forms
- Submit your high school transcript
- Means-Based applicants must submit a completed FAFSA and Student Aid Report
- Obtain and upload two letters of recommendation, preferably from teachers or counselors
The SDEF Empower Scholarship supports full-time undergraduate study at accredited colleges and universities in the United States and may be renewed each year based on continued eligibility.
