The Sierra Nevada Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is excited to announce its annual scholarship program for Washoe County School District students. This program aims to support deserving students in pursuing their academic dreams.
Important Points:
• Scholarships are awarded without bias based on gender, race, color, religion, national origin, or disability.
• Notification of scholarship recipients will be done by April.

Application Checklist:
• Scholarship application
• Financial aid form
• 1,000-word (or less) student essay
• Two completed letter of recommendation forms
• List of extracurricular activities, honors, scholastic achievements, employment history, leadership positions, and community service
• Proof of acceptance/enrollment at a college/university, technical school/trade school
• Proof of U.S. citizenship
• Current high school transcript
Eligibility:
• Senior at a Washoe County High School
• Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.25
• Demonstrated involvement in school and community
• Graduating from a Washoe County High School in June
• Proof of enrollment in the chosen institution for Fall
• All materials must be postmarked by February 15
Student Essay Requirements:
• Typed, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman or equivalent font.
• Numbered pages, one-inch margins, and 1,000 words maximum.
Essay Prompt:
"What course of study do you intend to pursue in college or vocational/technical school? What has motivated you to choose this career path? What do you intend to accomplish with your degree? What do you envision yourself doing ten years from now?"
