Scholarship Description

The STEAM Sports Foundation Scholarship supports students pursuing careers in engineering within motorsports or the automotive industry. Priority is given to those studying mechanical or electrical engineering, computer science, data analytics, physics, or math. Candidates with experience or interest in electric and autonomous vehicle innovation, as well as motorsports-related internships, are strongly encouraged to apply. The program is dedicated to increasing representation of under-served demographics including females, minorities, and individuals with disabilities.

Scholarship Details

  • Scholarship amount is $5,000 per year
  • Open to rising college juniors and seniors, or technical school students
  • Applications are currently open and the deadline is May 15th
  • Application must be completed in one sitting as it cannot be saved
  • To date, fourteen scholarships have been awarded to students from universities such as Stanford, Kettering, Wayne State, and others

Eligibility Criteria

  • Demonstrated interest and activity toward a career in motorsports or the automotive industry
  • Preferred majors include mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, data analytics, physics, or math
  • Priority given to students with motorsports internships or technical experience
  • Open to female, minority, and disabled students
  • Must be a rising junior or senior in college, or enrolled in a technical school

Application Process

  1. Begin and complete the application in one session as it cannot be saved
  2. Submit required personal information including contact details, school information, GPA, and expected graduation date
  3. Attach the following documents: GPA transcript, letter of recommendation, resume of internships/jobs/extracurriculars
  4. If applicable, submit a letter from a certified ADA physician confirming disability
  5. Submit three short essays (250 words max each) on the following topics: career path, innovation & leadership, and overcoming challenges
