The Students with Heart Foundation Scholarship was created to support undergraduate and graduate students living with heart disease or deformities. By providing financial assistance, the foundation aims to ease some of the burdens students face as they balance rigorous academic demands with their health challenges.
Scholarship Details
- Annual awards range from $500 to $6,000
- Scholarships may be renewed for subsequent academic years
- Awards disbursed directly to the recipient’s college or university
- Application period runs from July 1st through October 1st
- Applications reviewed on a rolling basis
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident
- Must be currently enrolled or entering an accredited U.S. college or university
- Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credits per semester)
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Must provide documentation from a licensed physician confirming a cardiac disease or deformity
- Open to both undergraduate and graduate students
- Applicants with more severe cardiac conditions may receive priority consideration
Application Process
- Obtain a letter from a licensed physician confirming cardiac disease or deformity
- Request and submit official transcripts from your current academic institution
- Secure one letter of recommendation from a previous or current professor
- Prepare a personal statement between 500 and 2,000 words describing challenges faced due to your condition
- Students beginning college must also submit a College Acceptance Letter, an official first-semester schedule, and high school transcripts
- Submit all application materials together in one complete package via fax by October 1st
- Participate in a personal interview with the Foundation’s President or Board members if requested
Awardees will be selected by a case by case basis at the President’s discretion, with accompanied recommendations by acting board members. Students with more severe cardiac cases will be put at higher priority, however, all students suffering from Cardiac Disease and/or deformities are strongly encouraged to apply.
