The Take Care of Texas Video Contest is a way for Texas high schoolers to learn about protecting the environment and come up with creative ways to share this knowledge with others. Students will create a video that portrays positive ways Texans can help keep air and water clean, conserve water, save energy, or reduce waste.
Scholarship details
- 30-second video
- Shows positive ways to Take Care of Texas
- Top 3 submissions will receive awards
- 1st place: $2,500
- 2nd place: $1,500
- 3rd place: $500
- Late entries or videos with incomplete information will not be considered
Eligibility Criteria
- Texas high school student
- Grades 9-12
- To be considered, video submission must:
- Portray positive ways Texans can protect the environment
- Include the slogan “Take Care of Texas. It’s the only one we’ve got”
- Only use statistics from TCEQ and Take Care or Texas websites
- Not have been previously submitted or won an award in another competition
- Be 30 seconds long
- Have a maximum file size of 64 MB
- Be shot horizontally (wide)
- Be original and royalty free (not copyrighted)

- Label video file with your first and last name
- Complete reference sheet
- Ensure all video requirements are met
TCEQ Commissioners and representatives from Waste Management of Texas, Inc. will recognize and honor the first prize winners at the Texas Environmental Excellence Awards Banquet. All winning videos will be showcased on the Take Care of Texas website, on social media, and in media announcements.
