The TCPS Teacher Education Scholarship, is a one year scholarship that is available to students pursuing a teaching career. Students may apply annually, beginning in their second year at Chesapeake College or third year and/or fourth year at a four-year school majoring in education.
Scholarship Details
- One-year scholarship renewable for up to three years
- $3,000 per year, distributed in equal parts per semester
- Available to students starting in their second year at Chesapeake College or third/fourth year at a four-year institution
- Scholarship applications are accepted on a rolling basis
- Priority given to applicants majoring in Critical Need teaching areas
Eligibility Criteria
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA or greater and complete a minimum of 30 credit hours annually
- Be enrolled in a four-year completion track course of study
- Commit to providing one year of teaching service to Talbot County Public Schools for each year the scholarship is awarded
- Open to all teaching majors, with priority for Critical Need areas
Application Process
- Verify your eligibility based on GPA, credit hours, and program requirements
- Complete the scholarship application form
- Submit proof of enrollment at Chesapeake College or a four-year institution
- Indicate your teaching major and, if applicable, specify a Critical Need area
- Agree to the teaching service requirement for Talbot County Public Schools
- Submit your application at any time during the year (rolling basis)
The $3000 scholarship may be awarded for a maximum of three years (for students who first applied in their 2nd year at Chesapeake College), and payment will be made directly to Chesapeake College or a four year school in equal parts, one per semester.
