The Patrick S. O'Neale, P.E. Engineering Scholarship was established in 2021 in memory of MWWA Past President Patrick S. O'Neale, PE. Each year, up to $2,000 in awards will be granted to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering at a four-year accredited college or university, with preference given to those whose studies are related to water works practice.
Scholarship Details
- Annual awards of up to $2,000
- Open to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Preference given to applicants with programs of study related to waterworks practice
- Established in memory of Patrick S. O'Neale, P.E., a former MWWA President and advocate for Massachusetts water infrastructure
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Applicants must have completed at least one year (two semesters) of study toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering at an accredited U.S. institution.
Application Process
- Special consideration will be given to students with a focus on water works practice over those in general Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Prepare all necessary application materials
- Submit the completed application by June 15th
Note: Prior recipients of the scholarship are ineligible to apply again.
The MWWA Board of Directors may amend the scholarship guidelines at any time by majority vote during a duly called meeting. MWWA also reserves the right to withhold awarding a scholarship in any year where no outstanding candidates are identified. Only complete applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.
