The Paula Kovarick Segalman Family Scholarship Fund for ALS supports students whose lives have been impacted by ALS. Established in 2016 by the Segalman family, this scholarship honors Paula's legacy of compassion and resilience by easing the financial burden of education for those affected by ALS.
Scholarship Details
- Award amount of up to $5,000, renewable for up to four years
- Up to three previous recipients may receive renewal scholarships annually
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have faced financial hardships due to an ALS diagnosis (self or immediate family member)
- Must be 17 years or older and a U.S. citizen
- Must plan to enroll full-time in an undergraduate program at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational school for the entire academic year
Application Process
- Complete the online application form and submit all required materials
- Provide a statement describing the financial implications of ALS in your family (1,000 character maximum)
- Submit an online recommendation
- Include a statement of career and educational goals
- Provide evidence of academic performance and leadership in school and community activities
- Submit the application by the specified deadline
