Scholarship Description

The George Washington Carver Community Enrichment Center (GWCCEC) is proud to introduce the Reginald and Mildred Womble Scholarship, designed to support high school seniors from Guilford, Randolph, Chatham, and Forsyth counties who plan to attend a historically Black college or university (HBCU). This one-time $2,500 scholarship honors the Wombles' commitment to education and seeks to recognize students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a dedication to diversity and inclusion.

Scholarship Details

  • One-time scholarship award of $2,500
  • Open to graduating high school seniors from Guilford, Randolph, Chatham, and Forsyth counties
  • Designed to support students attending a nationally accredited four-year HBCU
  • Aims to ease the financial burden of higher education

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a graduating high school senior
  • Must reside in Guilford, Randolph, Chatham, or Forsyth counties
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be attending a four-year accredited HBCU
  • Must complete at least 8 hours of documented community service
  • Must participate in the George Washington Carver Oratorical Contest
  • Must submit a 1,000-word essay on diversity and inclusion

Application Process

  1. Complete and submit the scholarship application.
  2. Prepare a 1,000-word essay discussing diversity and inclusion.
  3. Provide proof of at least 8 hours of community service.
  4. Register and participate in the George Washington Carver Oratorical Contest.
  5. Submit all required documents before the deadline.
