The TRIBEZA Austin Student Journalism Scholarship is now accepting applications through June 26th. One graduating Austin senior will be selected to receive $2,500, paid directly to the recipient, to support their first year of college study. TRIBEZA — Austin’s premier art and culture magazine — is proud to introduce the inaugural award honoring one exceptional Austin high school senior with the talent, drive and vision to pursue a career in journalism.
Scholarship Details
- Sponsored by TRIBEZA, an Austin-based art and culture magazine
- One scholarship recipient will be selected each year
- Award amount is $2,500
- Funds are paid directly to the recipient
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a current high school senior
- Must reside within Austin city limits
- Must plan to enroll in a college or university for fall
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must demonstrate a sincere commitment to journalism
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application before the June 26th deadline
- Prepare and submit three writing samples that demonstrate journalistic skill
- Provide information about extracurricular activities and involvement
- Write and submit a response to the scholarship essay prompt regarding journalism goals and how Austin shapes the stories you want to tell
- Review all application materials for accuracy and completeness before submission
- Monitor communications regarding scholarship selection and award announcements
Great journalism shapes how a city understands itself. This scholarship was established to invest in the voices that will define Austin’s next chapter — writers who are curious, rigorous and compelled to tell the stories that matter. One outstanding student will be selected to receive $2,500, with the winner announced at the end of July.
