Scholarship Description

The Tzu Chi USA Scholarship is a scholarship program funded by Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation to recognize and provide financial assistance to outstanding college-bound high school graduates and continuing undergraduate students who were prior recipients in selected areas of the United States.

Scholarship Details

Eligibility Criteria

  • High school applicants must be graduating seniors or equivalent
  • Undergraduate applicants must be former Tzu Chi Scholarship recipients
  • Demonstrated financial need for college tuition and related expenses
  • Enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college
  • Continuing undergraduates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Continuing undergraduates must complete 50 volunteer hours with Tzu Chi or another nonprofit organization during the current academic year

Application Process

  1. Complete the appropriate Tzu Chi USA Scholarship application form
  2. Submit required financial documentation demonstrating financial need with all Social Security Numbers blacked out
  3. High school applicants must submit one community recommendation letter
  4. Continuing undergraduate applicants must submit an official college transcript
  5. Continuing undergraduate applicants must submit signed proof of 50 completed volunteer hours
  6. Upload all required materials with the completed application by the stated deadline

Tzu Chi USA Scholars are selected on the basis of their financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement. Tzu Chi educators bring solid academic programs to students as well as character education, which encompasses the teaching of gratitude, respect, kindness and compassion.
