Scholarship Description

The UNCF Toyota Scholars Program also prepares a path to professional opportunity. Scholars are selected annually to participate in a 12-week paid summer internship at Toyota and receive a merit-based scholarship of up to $7,500. Housing and travel to and from the internship will be provided.

Scholarship Details

  • Sponsored by Toyota in partnership with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF)
  • Open to students attending UNCF-member Historically Black Colleges and Universities
  • Annual scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $7,500
  • Scholarship funds may be used toward eligible educational expenses, including tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, supplies, travel, and other approved costs
  • Includes professional development, career-readiness training, networking opportunities, and access to Toyota career pathways

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be enrolled at a UNCF-member Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
  • Must meet the academic and eligibility requirements established by the UNCF Toyota Scholars Program
  • Must demonstrate strong academic achievement and leadership potential

Application Process

  1. Complete the UNCF Toyota Scholars Program application.
  2. Submit all required academic records and supporting documentation.
  3. Provide any additional materials requested by the scholarship program.
  4. Submit the completed application by the published deadline.
  5. If selected, participate in required professional development activities and scholarship programming.

The connection to leaders at Toyota starts early, as scholars participate in a virtual Case Competition with other HBCU students, created and judged by Toyota executives, to compete for merit-based scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. After graduation, these scholars will receive priority consideration for career opportunities at Toyota post-graduation.
