United Way of Long Island’s Scholarship Program is designed to increase access to higher education for students facing financial challenges. Scholarship Details
- Undergraduate college scholarship for high school seniors
- Funds may be used for tuition, fees, housing, or commuter expenses
- Awards announced by June 30th
- Deadline to apply: May 16th
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a current resident of Long Island, New York
- Must attend a high school located in Nassau or Suffolk County
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must be actively involved in community service
- Must submit a complete application by the deadline
Application Process
- Applications open in October
- Gather and prepare the required materials
- Submit a complete application package by May 16th
- Await notification of scholarship award on or before June 30th
Required Application Materials
- Completed scholarship application
- Copy of parent/guardian’s most recent income tax return (SSNs blacked out)
- Statement of household gross annual income
- Signed applicant and parent/guardian disclosure
- Official high school transcript
- One-page personal essay
- Two letters of recommendation
- FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Student resume (include student name on each page)
