The University of Delaware offers esports scholarships to students aiming to develop their gaming skills while pursuing a degree. These scholarships support current esports players and incoming students interested in joining the Blue Hen Esports varsity teams.
Scholarship Details
- Renewable scholarship of approximately $3,500 per year for up to 4 years
- Awarded to current esports players and incoming students joining a University of Delaware varsity esports team
- Scholarships awarded based on game experience, highest in-game rank, team-based needs, and individual competitive accolades
- Eligible games include Hearthstone, League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Valorant
Eligibility Criteria
- Current University of Delaware esports players or incoming students interested in joining a varsity esports team
- Demonstrated competitive gaming experience
- Must maintain good standing with the esports team to qualify for scholarship renewal
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application
- Submit game highlights, game rankings, and in-game statistics to demonstrate skills
- Attend tryouts as directed by the University of Delaware’s Esports staff
Recipients will train in UD’s state-of-the-art esports facility and represent the university in competitions such as the Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF), College League of Legends, and Activision/Blizzard events.
