To honor Blake NordstromThis link will take you away from uwkc.org—Nordstrom’s co-president, respected community leader, and philanthropist who died in 2019—United Way of King County and Nordstrom created the Blake Nordstrom Scholarship.
Scholarship Details
- Established in honor of Blake Nordstrom
- Twenty scholarships are awarded annually
- Each scholarship award is valued at $5,000
- Recipients may receive up to two consecutive scholarship awards
- Supports students enrolled at Benefits Hub partner colleges
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be enrolled at a Benefits Hub partner college
- Must have at least one academic quarter remaining in a degree, certificate, or credential program at the time of application
- Must be enrolled in at least six credits, or be enrolled in one to five credits while pursuing a declared degree or credential program
- No GPA requirement applies
- Selection prioritizes students with demonstrated financial and personal need
Application Process
- Confirm enrollment at a Benefits Hub partner college and verify eligibility requirements
- Complete the scholarship application during the application period
- Provide all requested personal, educational, and financial information
- Submit information related to financial need and other qualifying factors if requested
- Ensure all application materials are submitted before June 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
- Monitor communications regarding scholarship review and recipient selection
- If selected, maintain eligibility requirements for scholarship disbursement
In order to prioritize students with the highest need, we will apply weighted criteria to narrow the pool of applicants. Award recipients will be randomly selected from the list of students who have the greatest need among the following criteria: First generation student status, Racial and ethnic demographic data, Parenting status, Multi-lingual capacity, Lack of access to other forms of financial aid, Household income, Basic needs assessment.
