The Victor and Verna Johnson Scholarship will financially assist students from Walsh County North Dakota to continue their education. Applications will be accepted from January 1st to April 1st annually.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a graduate of a Walsh County high school
- Must be entering or currently in the junior or senior year of a college undergraduate program
- Must demonstrate academic achievement
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must enroll as a full-time student with at least 12 credit hours per semester
- Students from the Park River and Hoople area receive first priority, but all qualifying Walsh County students are encouraged to apply
Application Process
- Create a profile with the North Dakota Community Foundation
- Complete the scholarship application during the designated timeframe
- Provide all required academic and financial information requested in the application
The Victor and Verna Johnson Scholarship Fund was established with a gift from the Verna Johnson Estate in the year 2008. Victor and Verna Johnson farmed near Hoople and later resided in Park River during their retirement. They were both active in the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Hoople.
