Scholarship Description

The VMDAEC Education Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships each year to eligible graduating students. Recipients are selected based on varying factors, as well as the quality of their personal statement. Students must be entering their first semester at a post-secondary or trade school.

Scholarship Details

  • Awards $1,500 scholarships each year, in addition to other awards
  • Selection is based on 40% financial need, 40% academic achievement, and 20% personal statement
  • Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, student fees, room and board or textbooks

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant's parent or legal guardian must have a primary residence that receives electricity from one of the 16 electric cooperatives served by the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC)
  • Applicants must be graduating seniors from a high school or homeschool program
  • Applicants must be entering their first semester at a post-secondary or trade school in the following fall
