Scholarship Description

The Virginia Ship Repair Foundation is committed to promoting, supporting, and developing the future workforce of the ship repair industry. The scholarship supports education, training, and certification for the development of in-demand trade skills for ship repair. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate not only their interest in pursuing a career in ship repair, but also their potential to serve as advocates for the industry’s critical role in our economy, defense, and skilled trades.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to high school seniors or college seniors planning a maritime career
  • Open to individuals interested in transitioning into skilled maritime trades
  • Applicants must live in Virginia or be willing to relocate to Virginia
  • Dependents of Virginia Ship Repair Association member company employees are encouraged to apply

Application Process

  1. Download and complete the scholarship application form.
  2. Write a one-page personal statement explaining your interest in ship repair and how the scholarship will support your goals.
  3. Obtain a letter of recommendation from a mentor, employer, or educator.
  4. Application deadline is March 27th
