Scholarship Description

Applicants must: Be a full-time student currently enrolled with a minimum of 12 hours; Have a minimum GPA of 3.0; Have completed minimum of 30 hours of coursework; Demonstrate career commitment in communications or media; Be enrolled in a Central Texas college or university (Central Texas college or university is defined as being located in the 10-county Capital region in Central Texas including Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis and Williamson Counties).

Scholarship Details

  • Awarded annually to at least one undergraduate student
  • Established in honor of Jo Caldwell Meyer, a WCA member and communications professional
  • Supports students pursuing education and careers in communications
  • Applications evaluated based on essay, recommendation, activities, academics, and supplemental information

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an undergraduate student
  • Must demonstrate academic achievement and community involvement
  • Should be pursuing a career or education path in communications or a related field

Application Process

  1. Complete and submit the Jo Caldwell Meyer Scholarship application form
  2. Write and submit an essay that demonstrates clarity, relevance, and quality of writing (25 points)
  3. Obtain one letter of recommendation that highlights your character and accomplishments (25 points)
  4. Provide details of extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and community service (20 points)
  5. Submit information on academics, awards, and honors (20 points)
  6. Include your GPA (5 points)
  7. Add any supplemental information such as skills or personal circumstances that strengthen your application (5 points)
  8. Submit all materials by the deadline for consideration
