Scholarship Description

The Frederic Whitaker and Eileen Monaghan Whitaker Foundation (The Whitaker Foundation) has opened the next round of its nationwide undergraduate Art Scholarship Program, The Whitaker Foundation Art Scholarship Fund.

Scholarship Details

  • Sponsored by the Frederic Whitaker and Eileen Monaghan Whitaker Foundation
  • Nationwide undergraduate art scholarship program
  • Supports students pursuing careers in art and museum-related fields
  • Special emphasis on watercolor and museum studies
  • Three scholarships are awarded annually
  • Each scholarship award is valued at $2,000
  • Scholarships include Bachelor of Fine Art, Bachelor of Art or Illustration, and Art History or Museum Studies categories

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an undergraduate student
  • Must pursue studies in fine arts, illustration, art history, museum studies, or related fields
  • Applicants for Fine Art and Illustration scholarships should demonstrate an emphasis on watercolor
  • Must complete all required application materials during the application period
  • Applicants are required to demonstrate knowledge of the Whitakers’ works through essays or watercolor submissions

Application Process

  1. Review the scholarship categories and eligibility requirements
  2. Select the scholarship category that best matches your academic focus
  3. Complete the scholarship application during the March 15 to June 15th application period
  4. Prepare and submit required essays or watercolor paintings related to the Whitakers’ works
  5. Provide any additional requested supporting materials or academic information
  6. Submit the completed application before the June 15, 2026 deadline
  7. Monitor communications regarding scholarship selection and award announcements

The Foundation intends to support art students with a special emphasis on watercolor and museum studies and to help them meet the diverse needs of today’s professional art and museum world. Through the application process students are required to gain knowledge of the Whitakers’ works through submitted essays or watercolor paintings.
