The WMU Foundation and national WMU provide scholarships to Southern Baptist students, including children of missionaries. These scholarships also support students who are preparing for their own Baptist missions.
Scholarship Details
- Scholarships are available to Southern Baptist students, including children of SBC missionaries serving through NAMB or IMB
- Scholarships also support students preparing for Baptist missions service
- Scholarship awards are distributed to the appropriate college, university or seminary
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be Southern Baptist students
- Applicants must be endorsed by a WMU leader who can speak to their involvement in missions discipleship and/or calling to serve
- Applicants must also be endorsed by a teacher, professor or academic advisor who can affirm their academic integrity, character and readiness for higher education.
- Applicants who are children of NAMB or IMB missionaries or who are currently serving in the field through NAMB or IMB must submit the applicable employment verification form
Application Process
- Complete and submit the appropriate scholarship application online by December 31st at 4:30 p.m. CST
- Ask a WMU leader, such as a WMU director, state or associational WMU leader, church WMU leader or another WMU connection, to complete the WMU endorsement form
- Ask a teacher, professor or academic advisor to complete the academic endorsement form
- Ensure that both endorsements are submitted by December 31st at 4:30 p.m. CST. Only one WMU endorsement and one academic endorsement will be accepted for each applicant
- Complete the NAMB or IMB verification form, if applicable
- Monitor the email addresses provided on the application for notification of the scholarship decision
- If selected, submit the required acceptance form by June 15th so scholarship funds can be distributed to the school
