Scholarship Description

YWCA Billings is now accepting applications for the Salute to Student Scholarship! This scholarship awards $5,000 to women students in select Montana counties who are enrolled in a degree program at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university. The scholarship aims to support students who demonstrate a commitment to the YWCA’s mission of empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

Scholarship Details

  • Award amount is $5,000
  • Recipients must be enrolled in the fall at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university
  • Scholarship is non-renewable

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be women students residing in one of the following Montana counties: Yellowstone, Big Horn, Carbon, Custer, Musselshell, Rosebud, Stillwater, or Treasure
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (or Montana HiSET equivalent)
  • Must not have previously received the Salute to Student Scholarship
  • YWCA Billings Board Members, staff members, and their family members are not eligible

Application Requirements

  • Completed application submitted by 11:59 PM on April 1st
  • Two letters of recommendation from a teacher, professor, school counselor, advisor, or employer (family members not permitted)
  • Essays demonstrating the student’s dedication to the YWCA mission, including empowering women and working for peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all
  • Copy of academic transcript with ACT and/or SAT scores
  • Record of self-motivation and perseverance in academics

Application Process

  1. Prepare your application responses using a Word document or backup file
  2. Create or log in to a Jotform account to save your progress while completing the application
  3. Gather and upload all required materials, including recommendation letters, essays, and transcripts
  4. Submit your completed application online

Essays should demonstrate the student's dedication to empowering women, building strong families for a better community, and/or working for peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Selection criteria include but are not limited to academic success, community service, financial need, personal goals, and support of the YWCA Billings Mission Statement.
