Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award (formerly the Young Women in Public Affairs Award) recognizes young women, ages 16-19, for demonstrating leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life.
Scholarship Details
- Recognizes leadership, volunteerism, and civic engagement
- Open to young women between the ages of 16 and 19
- The program operates through local clubs, districts, and international competition levels
- Zonta International awards 37 international scholarships annually
- International award recipients receive $5,000 each
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a woman between the ages of 16 and 19 as of April 1st of the application year
- Must live within a Zonta district or be a citizen of a Zonta country
- Must demonstrate active commitment to volunteerism
- Must have experience in student government, local government, workplace leadership, or similar leadership roles
- Must demonstrate volunteer leadership achievements
- Must have knowledge of Zonta International and its programs
Application Process
- Locate and contact a participating Zonta club or district serving your area
- Review the application requirements and local submission deadline
- Complete the official award application form
- Prepare documentation highlighting leadership experiences, volunteer service, and civic involvement
- Submit all required application materials to the sponsoring Zonta club by its deadline
- If no local club exists in your area, apply through an eligible Zonta district or Zonta e-club as permitted
- Selected applicants may advance from club-level competition to district and international consideration
The program operates at the Zonta club, district and international levels. Zonta International offers 37 international awards of $5,000. Each district may submit one applicant for consideration for an international scholarship. The five largest districts may submit a second applicant for a total of two applicants.
