I am applying for this scholarship to help pay for my classes. I am currently in the A.S Early Childhood Management program maintaining a 3.5gpa. I am only able to afford one class each semester and I would like to have the option to take more so I can finish faster. I am a full time Secretary/Bookkeeper for Hyde Grove Elementary and I have 3 children. I do not make much money but I am striving to become a school teacher, preferably where I currently work. My goals are to finish my A.S and continue with my Bachelors at UNF in Education.

I am applying for this scholarship because I am getting my A.S and achieving my prerequisites to get into the radiology program next year. Which I will achieve the radiology tech degree and go into the work field. Currently, I am a twenty year old working a full time job as a vet tech in which I have managed to afford an apartment where I support my two dogs, and gathering the money for a car payment on top of that. As of right now, I am getting my A.S and achieving my prerequisites to get into the radiology program. I have worked hard for what I have achieved and still continue to work hard for the things I want in life. When I graduate I hope to be able to start my own organization either my own shelter for dogs in need in the mean time I am working on starting up my own online store for pet products. I have dedicated my life to helping animals and after working in a kennel for two years I finally found my place in making the world a better place for animals.

I’m applying for this scholarship because I refuse to let the set backs that life has thrown my way define my future. With the help of this scholarship I would be able to afford to go to The University of South Florida which has an excellent Speech Pathology Program. Recently I’ve had to work extra shifts to help with hospital bills that have burdened my mother. If I’m rewarded I will not only have more aid but I will be able to live on campus or near the campus which will put myself in a better learning environment.

Im applying for this scholarship because my goal is to study right here in the Gulf Community state colleague and I just starting working as a part time I struggle with all the payments for insurance and school and my car. I am seventeen years old I for some people I am too young to work full time and too young to drive and the insurance is too expensive. my goal is to continue my education and help my parents. when in the future I see the struggles of my past because the economic situation I going to be proud of myself and help others who will struggle like me. My goal is to complete my A.A. and continue my education in physical therapy or nursing because when you serve other you construct your character. .

I am applying for this scholarship because being a recent high school graduate and started a new part-time job is not easy. I am only able to afford as much as I can. I am a 19 year old undergraduate student and I am only beginning to know what it is like to be an adult. Between paying for student loans, car insurance and as well as other basic needs, I am in need of assistance financially. I recently started my college education back in August and I think it has been going very well. My hope is to achieve my A.A and transfer to a university to obtain my major in Psychology and my minor in video game design. Trying to obtain a scholarship is a hard feat to accomplish and so far, it has been really rough. I have tried over and over and it was close but not close enough. I hope that with the help of this scholarship, I wanna turn my pipedream into a foreseeable reality.

ACT Class Action Lawsuit: $16 Million Settlement for Students with Disabilities

October 23, 2020

by Susan Dutca-Lovell

ACT, Inc., the college admissions testing company, has agreed to pay out $16 million to 65,728 California students with disabilities to settle a class-action lawsuit. The class-action federal lawsuit filed in California in 2018 alleged that ACT, Inc. violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act by disclosing test-takers' disability status to colleges and scholarship organizations on score reports, and denied certain examinees with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in its Educational Opportunity Service. Test-Optional Colleges Pledge to Judge Applications Holistically

October 22, 2020

by Izzy Hall

In response to the coronavirus pandemic and the way it has made it harder than ever to take the SAT and ACT, many colleges and universities, from large state universities to small liberal arts colleges, have announced that their admissions for next year’s Class of 2025 will be test-optional. Test-optional admissions mean that schools won’t require a submission of a standardized test score as part of the admissions process. But how will admissions officials judge applicants without a score? Will a student who doesn’t submit a standardized test score be penalized in any way? And will a student who does submit a score be chosen over one who doesn’t? [...]
