Applicants may be involved in community service on a volunteer-basis, non-profit organizational support or simply demonstrate acts of selflessness on a regular basis. As an original SMR board member, these traits were some of which Jake Smaus displayed throughout his short but accomplished life. Jake’s uplifting character is honored through this scholarship with the hopes of inspiring those whose actions impact others in need.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements: Be a U.S. Citizen and Nebraska resident enrolled full-time in a program of study at an accredited university, college, or post-secondary vocational/technical program located within the United States, or be a U.S. Citizen enrolled full-time in an educational institution located within Nebraska, at the time of application. (High School students are not eligible to apply.); If currently attending a four-year accredited university or college you must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours or If currently attending a two-year accredited community college or vocational/technical program you must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours or If currently attending an accredited training certification program, you must have half of total curriculum requirements/classroom hours completed. If pursuing a Master’s, Post-baccalaureate or Doctorate degree, provide proof of acceptance or proof of enrollment in a graduate program.
